Travel Essentials

With my move to America only days away, it is time to start getting ready and get my bags packed! 

As I will be travelling long haul I am going to need a few essentials in my hand luggage to get me through the journey. 

I will be flying with Virgin Atlantic, starting in Belfast, then Manchester, Atlanta and then to Key West, I will then board the shuttle bus for one hour up to Marathon, teaching my final destination after 19 hours of travelling. 

My handluggage allowance is a handbag and a carry on, I got both of the ones pictured above from Primark and you can spot my first long haul travel essential, the trusty neck pillow! 

I got this neck pillow a few years ago at WHSmith in the airport, most stores sell them now and you can get them for quite a bargain, you can even find some Disney ones in Primark and Poundland! 

The first thing I pack in my carry on is clothes, you always need at least a weeks worth just in case your main luggage goes missing or gets damaged. 

The best way to do this is to purchase a pack of 2 vaccuum pack bags, I got mine in Poundland and I was able to fit a lot in with plenty of room to pack a few more things. 

The next thing I had to pack was all of my essential chargers for my cameras, my phone, iPad and Fitbit otherwise I would only forget. 

The best little hack I have is to pack them all into a camera case so they arre out of the way and to stop them from becoming tangled I folded them neatly and tied them together with hair elastics from Primark. 

The last of my essentials can be seen in the photo above, from left to right I have packed my action camera, octopus tripod, a copy of fit & well magazine, sunglasses, a good book, solid deodorant stick (doesn’t classify as a liquid), all my liquids, a hair brush, eye mask, adapted, toothbrush and my trusty documents holder where I keep my passport, insurance info, money, cards and visa information.
