Settling into Island Life

On Friday 13th July I left home to start my new adventure in Marathon in the Florida Keys.
I spent the first two days settling in and getting things for my apartment, I got pretty much everything from Kmart, the dollar tree and Publix.

I started work on 16th July, an orientation day full of paper work and learning who everyone is, I was nervous as the manager put me on the spot to talk about myself at the morning meeting, something I’m really not comfortable doing.
I got to learn how to drive a golf cart while carrying out room inspections, I have worked at the bar and have worked at the front desk, leaning how to use the operating system.
I have met some really great people, some of the guests are amazing and even bring you food during your shift!

The sunsets here are also incredible! I can’t believe what I get to see every night at Marathon midnight! The thunderstorms are also something else, the thunder is quite aggressive to the point I can hear the windows shaking.

I’m excited to see what the next year has in store for me and to see where I end up next in my career. I don’t think I’ve been this happy and content in a good few years and I am finally able to relax and enjoy myself.
